    More Things About Mooresville, NC

Hello, everyone! Welcome back to the blog! Today, I’m going to give you a little more insight on Mooresville, NC with some interesting facts that you may not know about. Before we start, don’t forget to check out last week’s blog, “Interior Design Trends That COVID-19 Accelerated Into Popularity”, because it was a really interesting one! Now, let’s dive into this week’s blog to learn some interesting facts about Mooresville, NC!

    History

The history of Mooresville goes way back to 1856 when it was originally founded by John Franklin Moore. The initial name that was given to the area was “Moore’s Siding”. Yeah, I’m happy that was eventually changed. After the Civil War, John Franklin Moore thought that the village should be turned into a town. Thus, Mooresville, NC became official in 1873. Moore built a brick factory that made the bricks for some of the brick buildings on Main Street today! After his death in 1877, his wife, Rachel Summrow Moore, continued to develop the town for years to come.

    Race City USA

Now, this one is more of an obvious one if you are familiar with the area. However, if you are not familiar with Mooresville, you may not know that this town embodies racing to its core. As a matter of fact, there are over 60 NASCAR racing teams and racing businesses that call Mooresville home. Not to mention, many NASCAR drivers, like Dale Earnhardt Jr. and Kurt Busch, live in Mooresville, NC or the other towns surrounding Lake Norman. Mooresville NC is also home to the North Carolina Racing Hall of Fame, and The Christy Allen Team isn’t too far away if you catch my drift. Get it? Drift and racing? I just like puns, okay.

    Nature is Calling

Mooresville is sat right on Lake Norman, which is the largest man-made lake in North Carolina! You can find people riding boats, riding jet skis, fishing, doing watersports, etc. all throughout the year. Also, Mooresville has tons of parks, basketball courts, tennis courts, and baseball fields to allow residents and visitors to enjoy the outdoors in any way possible. Mooresville really does give people many ways to take advantage of its amazing environment, and people LOVE it!

    Mooresville Hidden Painting

A historic painting that was painted in 1939 about the cotton industry is located in the Mooresville Graded School District building, which used to be a post office. This hidden piece of art can give people a rare opportunity to get a honest and meaningful look into the past.

    Dr. Selma Burke

I know what you are thinking. Who is Dr. Selma Burke? Well, she was an artist that was a part of the Harlem Renaissance movement! She is best known for creating the bust of President Franklin D. Roosevelt that also inspired his likeness on the dime coin. Dr. Burke is listed as Mooresville’s most famous historic resident. I know this one came from left field, but it’s still pretty cool. I mean, she influenced what culture is today! She also made many other busts of notable people, such as Booker T. Washington. She was clearly very talented!

Now, that was a few interesting things about the amazing, fast-growing city that is Mooresville, NC. If you are looking to buy or sell a home in the area, call The Christy Allen Team! We would love to help you on your real estate journey! Thanks for reading, and I’ll see you next time!
